Bio Wash Facility Bendigo Project – Case Study

Cassaform were engaged to engineer, design and supply a fast, modular and reliable formwork system to help form the bio wash pit reinforced concrete structure for Bendigo trains.






Client: Australian Concrete Solutions (ACS) on behalf of Coleman Rail.
Overview of Job: The new indoor Bio Wash facility will provide a more reliable service for regional Victorian commuters across the regional rail network once complete. The new $7.9M facility will provide a much needed capability of cleaning trains and relieve pressure on the only current bio wash cleaning station located in South Dynon, near Southern Cross Station. Further benefits to the community include approximately 50 jobs during construction and 8-9 jobs for ongoing staff. More can be read here.
Key Features: The Bio Wash facility structure included a large reinforced concrete (RC) pit. The design detailed 2.2m high, 300mm thick RC walls reinforced with 600x780mm pedestals, incorporated at 4.4m centers. The total pit dimensions were approximately 31m x 7.8m and required approximately 390m2 of formwork. The structure was formed both sides and completed in one pour.
